Starting the end of November there will be changes to the Economic Undertow Site in another attempt to corral the immense amount of spam that finds its way here.

A month ago I had 10,000+ subscribers. Today I have 85 67. I bet a large percentage of the remainder are spammers, I just can’t prove it.

 – Registering for the site will change,

 – Registration will be required in order to comment.

Right now, I am hunting through the registration list to delete any account that appears to be a spammer.

 – I am deleting any registration where the username or email address is gibberish or a string of unrelated letters or a name followed by numbers.

For example: “bnfgERh” and “spacextuja19776@mail.ru” are being deleted.

“JohnsonMartin2l45” and “amandachristie7544@hotmail.com” are being deleted.

“czinxinY9Z” and “czinxinY9Z@gmail.com” are gone, “JoeSmith2445” and/or “josmith2445@hotmail.com” are being deleted.

 – I am deleting any registration where the user name is a string of unrelated letters and the email address is a second, different name followed by numbers.

– I am deleting any registration where the email address includes a commercial product as the ISP or in the name part of the email address.

For example: “beatsforU@yahoo.com” or “alanmichaels@seosolutions.info” are being deleted.

I am also squelching repeat registrations.

For example: “Richard33England” and “George33Thomas” are both deleted.
 

 – ANY AND ALL REGISTRATIONS WITH THE PRECEDING CONFIGURATION OF EITHER USER NAME OR EMAIL WILL BE DELETED.

– If I deleted your registration by mistake, please register again, and follow the suggestions below.

 NEW REGISTRATIONS: AS A USER YOU MUST CONVINCE ME YOU ARE HUMAN AND THE SAME HUMAN BY WAY OF THE USER NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS.

Please use either your name or initials or any other combination of letters but these letters or your name must be part of the name string in your email address. Do not use numbers in your user name. Anyone using numbers in their user name will be deleted.

Going forward, this is going to be the primary spam filter on Economic Undertow.

– Users who leave comments and are otherwise well known will not be effected.

For example: user name: “ABWilson” together with “abw@gmail.com” is okay. “ABWilson” and “fhc6221@gmail.com” will be deleted.

– Any registrations from known spam ISPs will be deleted such as “163.com”,
