Paul Krugman is so well- hated by a large part of the economic underclass he’s decided to go all- out and become a climate change advocate. Of course, being a goddamned ‘liberal’ is a good enough reason to hate Krugman even more. Look for more pseudo- scientific spam from unpaid oil- auto- real estate company whores on Krugman’s web space …
Call me liberal again, MF: fuel price rises are hammering airline bottom- lines alongside climate- change accelerated increases in snow targeted against airports and other vital transport networks. We need to get Senator James Imhofe to hold hearings as this has to be the fault of liberals! Weather- related cancellations amount to over a half- billion dollars in outright losses …
Meanwhile, Meredith Whitney has become a scorned and maligned liberal for daring to question the Establishment hyper- bullish party line and suggest that US states, cities and special entities are broke! Whitney has the temerity to suggest that debt extended to these deadbeats is unlikely to be repaid in its entirety. Personally, I think Whitney understates the problem considering that the Feds have announced that they will not bail out states under any circumstances. Maybe they will and maybe they won’t but nothing will happen without bloodletting, first. The real problem underlying municipal finance: the cost of sprawl, which isn’t going away.
Call me a liberal, again! Whitney made her reputation for calling Citigruppe’s near- death experience during the Lehman meltdown. Roubini made his rep calling for the finance crisis before it happened. I called Chinese hyperinflation almost two years before it happened, when China was everyone’d darling. China is supposed to pull all the western economies out of the ditch. Now that China is an inch away from bloody food riots, the Brand X’ analysts are all over the ‘Inflation in China’ meme. Good grief, I can’t get any respect, even when I’m right!
More from the Good Grief Department; AOL (remember them???) just announced its purchase of Huffington Post for $300 + million. who said there was no money in blogging?
Everyone! None of the bloggers will make a cent from this deal! Huffington is already rich, she gets even more money! Isn’t this the way American Robber Baron- ism is supposed to work?
Remember when AOL bought Time- Warner or when AOLTW bought Bebo? Remember what happened afterward? I don’t either. AOL is the Internet’s black hole. Time- Warner did not survive it’s close encounter with AOL intact, becoming a business- shedding bit of space junk orbiting AOL’s event horizon. Huffington’s imminent vaporization leaves an information vacuum- to- be in the Liberal bloog-o-sphere. Am I ready to ‘step up’ my ‘Game’? Does it matter? Who cares?
More liberalism: what happened to Egypt? It’s become yesterday’s news: Mubarak has outlasted the pathetic, liberal opposition which could have dragged him out of the so- called Presidential Palace and tied his arms and legs to four different camels. Then they (‘They’) could have flogged those camels mercilessly. They didn’t do this or burn Mubarak at the stake or rip his entrail out as in ‘Dead Space II’ or hang him from a hook like those pacifistic Italians did to their overbearing dictator back in the day. Consequently, Mubarak is here to stay, or until he dies of old age.
Next up is ‘Mubarak 2.0’ who will give the Egyptian public more of the same (camels, beatings).
Problem is the same as America’s: the Egyptians refuse to part with their darling ‘America-lite’ robbery-masquerading-as-business business plan! Egyptians want is ‘more’, just like Europeans or South Koreans. Just as food buyers blame Bernanke for high prices, Egyptians blame Mubarak. This misalignment of ends and means actually supports Mubarak who has little control over and cannot be to blame for high food prices. Everyone knows it’s Israel’s fault!
I mean, both Mubarak and Ariana Huffington need to eat too! Right?
